“What does the ideal learning space look like for Transylvania College students and teachers?”

Educational project of total school transformation in Romania, in the city Cluj-Napoca, where more than 40 teachers and more than 30 students of various ages were directly engaged in contouring an idea of what they envision as the most beautiful, functional, and ergonomic school. By applying a “well@school” methodology which effectively identifies the target groups, approaches the space from the perspective of the direct beneficiaries, organizes more than 10 focus groups, interviews, and workshops. The result is an agile, flexible, bright, and fresh space where the main characters (teachers and students) can feel welcomed and inspired.

Event hall and canteen
The new cafeteria and canteen area, was created under the Stradale Carnivale concept – a school-exclusive concept where the menus are tailored to meet the specific needs of students. Stradale Transylvania College is the first dining hall in western Romania, offering a unique healthy nutrition experience for over 850 children and 250 teachers every day. Blending the Stradale brand’s image and identity with the established culture and identity of Transylvania College – both of which are already well-known and have a strong presence in the market – the project offers a cohesive design concept that unites the two brands through carefully selected materials, furniture, textures, colors, plants, lighting, and the overall atmosphere.

Transilvania Nursery
In the summer of 2024, while the children were enjoying their holiday, the school was far from empty, buzzing instead with creative, dedicated people hard at work, transforming a worksite into the coziest nursery and kindergarten. Featuring modern and flexible classrooms, multifunctional spaces, vibrant corridors, and alternative learning areas, the new 4,000-square-meter project today welcomes little children and their parents to a space full of beauty, functionality, color, and joy wherever you look. Viewed from the children’s perspective – who are, after all, the main stakeholders – the space planning and design thinking underwent a major shift in approach and was ultimately built around the concept of play, with the key word being “playground.”

Creating a standard of innovation in education
Transylvania College chose the best solutions for its floor that fit the students and teachers’ needs. Design perfectly meets the educational needs and provides the ultimate well-being in the school. It was renovated 4000 square meters, and new Tarkett floor coverings were installed, from following collections:

- IQ Eminent - tough and ultra-durable homogeneous vinyl, which is a solution for heavy and very heavy traffic areas.

- Tapflex excellence and Tapiflex stairs – are heterogeneous vinyl collections, and comes in different constructions to accommodate the use in residential applications or high traffic areas such as schools and hospitals. 

- DESSO Fields and DESSO Fuse - modular carpets, whose main specificity is modularity and are the ideal solution for the floor, especially in the case of business and public facilities.

- iD inspiration 55 – offer endless layout possibilities thanks to their modular format that enables agile transformation of space to meet the evolving demands of work and life without compromising on health and the environment. Floor is the new playground with LVT.

- iD Inspiration High Traffic 70 – The collection is designed for high traffic areas. It offers an endless combinations of format, design and beveling to help create spaces that build brand image and positively shape the customer experience which enhances the floor with textures that bestow a look and feel resembling to mistake with the real thing.
