Parquet skirting: A finishing "touch" for your interior

Parquet skirting: A finishing "touch" for your interior

Wood, as an element of interior design, subtly brings nature into the environment. The natural look of the wooden floor is an ideal basis for creating cosy spaces!

The carefully selected accompanying range will give a complete look to your flooring.

A small detail that makes a big difference

Parquet skirting is an important element of the interior and a small detail that makes a big difference – matching parquet skirting boards give a nicer look and complement the space. Although there are differences among wood species and designs, parquet skirting boards can be easily combined with other elements.

When it comes to choosing the right parquet skirting, there are multiple approaches:

1.    Parquet skirting in harmony with the parquet flooring looks like a natural extension of the parquet flooring. Skirting matching the colour of the parquet flooring will make your room look visually larger and more spacious.

2.    Parquet skirting matching the rest of the joinery in the room. With such a solution, the interior is cheerful, with accentuated edges of the floors, windows, doors and the entire room.

3.    Parquet skirting as a neutral decorative element in white colour – Thanks to its neutrality, white parquet skirting is easy to combine. They enrich the environment with their simple and straight shapes, lines or decorations.

Shape of the parquet skirting

The design of the parquet skirting most often matches the style of the interior. Flat-profile parquet skirting with rounded or sharp edges is a simple and modern solution, while a curved-profile skirting has a classic design that goes best with a classic interior style. Decorative parquet skirting boards are especially effective if there are decorative details on the ceiling of the room as well.

How to choose the right skirting height?

Choosing the height of the parquet skirting depends both on your personal preferences and on the style of the room.

Higher skirting boards between 80 mm and 150 mm are usually used for rooms with high ceilings, while in the case of rooms with lower ceilings height, it is possible to use lower skirting of approximately 60 mm.

Tarkett offers parquet skirting of different heights, profiles, designs and colours.

There are more profiles and matching options available than ever before:

Skirting
Tarkett parquet skirting boards have been designed for excellent performance, in such a way that they can be easy installed on the skirting clip, removed or re-installed in a short time.

Mouldings
Decorative mouldings are details installed in order to trim wood flooring, provide a transition between various floorings or make surface levels more even. If carefully placed, they can enhance any décor and improve the quality of any home. They enrich the finishing look of your room.

T-profiles
T-profiles are installed as mouldings between two parquets or at the transition from parquet flooring to tiles, when it is important that both types of floor coverings are installed at the same level. This is usually done at room doors, as a transition between the parquet flooring in the room and the tiles in the hall. Before installing the flooring, the concrete underlay, onto which different types of floors will be laid, is brought to the same level by levelling the concrete covering.

Finishing profiles
The finishing profiles of the skirting are installed as finishing elements next to the balcony door or as finishing skirting of the parquet flooring.

Levelling profiles
Levelling profiles are installed as finishing skirting on parquet floorings leading to other types of flooring, such as tiles or carpets, which are at a lower level than the parquet flooring (-14 mm).

Parquet skirting clips
Parquet skirting clips are used to ensure an easy installation of parquet skirting. These are the benefits of using clips to attach parquet skirting:
•    The use of clips is very easy, even without special training
•    Glueless installation
•    It is possible to remove the parquet skirting and reinstall it (when laying cables, painting the walls ...).
